What made you become an atheist?

What I mean was, was there a major catalyst that flipped the switch for you? I was raised a Christian. Becoming an atheist was, for the most part, a gradual process involving a lot of factors. It is pretty corny, but the final straw was when I first heard the song "God" by John Lennon. When I listened to that song for the first time, I wondered why I was still clinging to the tattered shreds of what little "faith" I had left. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Sarge, Ichiro has been loyal enough. The guy deserves to play somewhere besides Seattle before his career is over. They've tried to put good teams together in Seattle, but it just hasn't happened. How can I help my husband control himself in awkward situations?

I have a question about my husband. First of all, he's a great man. He treats me very nicely and is very supportive. Those that know him well have a lot of respect for him. The only problem is that sometimes when he is in an awkward situation or doesn't know people very well, he can get very uptight and short tempered. He NEVER is physical- it's not like that, but he can be very abrasive, obnoxious and just rude sometimes. Others. when I know he feels comfortable, he is relaxed, calm and very pleasant. This is very embarring to me. My family hasn't gotten to know him very well because of this and I just cringe every time I know we will all be around each other. We currently live on the other side of the country from them, but my parents plan on visiting in the summer. I just want for him to be relaxed and enjoy himself, and for my parents to see what I see in him. My question is-how can I get him to relax in awkward situations or when he doesn't know people very well? How can I get him to control his temper in situations like that? Like I said, he's not like that all the time. He has a lot of good friends, ones that he's had for years. I don't want to make him sound like a monster..just looking for help.

It's really hard to keep these looking good all summer. I'd say put them in partial shade and make sure they get pretty dry before watering and use a good fertilizer. And if they start looking icky you should probably cut them back a bit.

Chest pain that won't go away?

A month ago, I had very severe chest pain. It hurt to talk, breathe, function. The severe pain lasted for about a day until disappearing. I dismissed it as a small muscle pull or something, but the pain isn't going away. I'll feel dull pain in the area about once a day. But now the pain is returning more frequently and more painful. The pain is localized to one spot under my collar bone and above my right . The area is tender. Pain is okay for now, but the area, when not hurting, feels like "there's a hole" or something. What's up with this?

What should I do my neighbor is Kleptomaniac?

Well, i don't really have much of a problem but my little sisters do. they are 8 and 4 and they like to play on our backyard a lot with their dolls and stuffed animals. We have these neighbors who are one of those people who have tons of kids (I think they have 12, with a 13th one on the way). So anyway, their 9th or 10th kid is 5 years old. Anyway, i think he is a kleptomaniac because our sisters often run in the house crying saying that Kevin (the kid) stole their dolls. I went to their house once because I am acquaintances with their 2nd child, and I saw some of my sisters' toys in his room, along with stuff like loose change, my mother's missing earring, their mail (unopened), some mail addressed to us, some mail addressed to our other neighbors, car keys, school supplies, a 9th grade textbook (guessing it was one of his siblings), even weeds and gr clippings. I don't get it, because some of these things are in our house. He must be very sneaky if he can get away from his family, creep into our house unnoticed, and take some stuff. My sisters are very sad and they are running out of toys and my parents don't want to buy any more. Plus this kid has been stealing from me, too, some of my stuff has started disappearing as well, so what can I do? I've tried talking to his parents but they work all day and it's too late to talk to them when they get home. It's really bugging all of us.

Should people have their benefits stopped if they don't attend parenting cles?

There is a proposal to stop alcoholics' benefits if they do not seek help. I have a problem with this on many practical levels firstly how do you define alcoholic and prove it even if you can define it, secondly treatment/help does not come cheap and people who are not on benefits and want help can't always get it so where is this presumably free rehab going to come from? Thirdly are the government going to take responsiblity for this when the crime rate goes up thanks to people stealing to get money for drink? Silly idea, good in theory, not very workable. But how about stopping benefits to claimants who have children unless they attend weekly parenting cles. That in my opinion is much more workable and would have much more of an effect. Young people are out of control because they aren't parented properly as their parents weren't parenting properly and someone somewhere has to break the cycle before society becomes totally out of control, do you agree? Is this a much more reasonable suggestion than to try and force somebody to stop drinking????

At first glance, I thought this would be an easy question. I LOVE Brad Pitt. He is an awesome actor in movies such as the Oceans series and also in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Loved him since Thelma and Louise. Then I got to thinking about Johnny Depp's versatility as an actor. Just look at the movies he has done- from Edward Scissorhands to Pirates to Sleepy Hollow to Ed Wood. He really is the better actor. Has customer service gone away ?

At grocery stores the clerk usually doesn't say hello or good-bye or thank you and usually they are chatting with the bag boy anyways . Restaurants I get snooty waiters/waitresses that take their sweet time and mess up any special order. Fast food people don't even look at me or say anything but how much my total is . Retail , I can barely get anyone to help me and when I do they don't know anything and sometimes rude. Yet people come into my retail store and expect/demand the utmost highest customer service . Why is that ? Why when you go anywhere else and get treated like crap, do you expect gold treatment at a smaller business ? Blah I'm just bored and ranting . I hate 75% of customers too, they get more rude every day , but I atleast try to be nice . If you aren't happy being in retail, food service etc, find a new job, customer service is not for everyone.

I think you shoulds send her a text telling her that you are going to sit in another seat on the bus tomorrow so that she knows that you are not doing it because you have a problem with her. Let her know you are doing it because you are respecting her wishes to talk to you in her own time. She will come around! True friends always do.

I'm glad you got it drinking because this is most essential for baby chicks. You now need to get it back with its mother ASAP, so she can keep it warm and teach it to feed. It won't thrive if you try to raise it on its own and the longer you wait, the less chance there'll be of its survival. If you don't do it straight away, she may even reject it. My new bearded dragon out of viv is he scared?

i got a new bearded dragon last week, and he is about 6months old i think, he might be under weight because the last owner said he hardly eats but he had been feeding him large cricket. i switched to small ones and he ate a few the first day i brought him home. the next day i put about 6 in hes viv and i just thought hed ate them but i cleaned the viv and they all hopped out of the cave! ive bought a seperate tank to feed im in, but he doesnt seem to like it. and wont eat any crickets, or hes veg. i fed him a meal worm with tweezers he ate that but wouldnt when i just put it infront of him or in hes dish. hes very sleepy and i bathed him today and after that he seemed to become more alert, he has been clawing at the front gl of viv all day, so i got him out he puffed hes beard out when i put him back in. tonight is the second time ive let him loose in the living room, he had a little crawl around but then flattend himself right down in a corner. i put him back in the viv and he went straight into hiding with a puffed out beard. same as he did last time. he will come out of hiding tho in about half hour and sit on the log and then i will stroke him and he will fall asleep for the night

My husband is starting his tech school at Sheppard AFB on December 8. I saw that he can ask for special permission once he enters Phase 3 to be able to live off base with our family. I also know that because his tech school isn't too long (65 days), the AF won't pay for us to relocate down there, but we're willing to pay the cost so that we can be together, even if it's only for a month and a half. I'm planning on taking our sons down sometime in mid- to late January, and we'll only need a place for a month and a half or so. Where can I find out about off base housing in Wichita Falls? I've tried just doing a search, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific suggestions of where would be a good place to rent for a short time. I'd rather get a furnished apartment so we don't have to haul our stuff, and then we can just have the AF move the rest of our things when we get our first ignment. I'd also rather find something off base so we can still get our BAH to help us pay our mortgage while we try to sell our house back home.

I think taxes need to be raised for the wealthy as the whole Reaganomics trickle down supply side economics simply does not work and has done nothing but make the debt explode. I love a guy but I'll never see him again?

This summer I went to Irish college with a few of my friends for 3 weeks and I met a boy there who was so nice and funny. At the start of the course I didn't really notice him because I was interested in another guy but on like the fourth or fifth day I saw him look at me and then I started to notice him. As the three weeks went on I really started to like him allot but my friends didn't know what I saw in him, though they were really nice about it saying that he was really sweet and stuff. The biggest problem was that he was a charmer, so all the girls were falling all over him. I would see him look at me sometimes but I didn't make a big deal about it because I thought if he did like me he would have done something about it, even though he was kind of shy around people he didn't know he was loud around his friends and was really popular. And now and again he would talk to my group of friends and whenever he said something to me I would just stand there and say nothing back because I'm also shy but I was just in shock that he would say something to me! I would beat myself about it later (not really). But now the course is over and I miss him more and more everyday. I try not to bring him up in conversation around my friends even though I think about him all the time. He lives 3 hours away from me but I don't want to forget him... What should I do ?!

Any Christians ever dreamed of standing before Christs judgment seat?

I have read a lot here on Y!A and talked to a lot of martial artists in person, and there are some people that think they are a master no mater what rank they hold or how long they've been taking martial arts, and some people that have several black belts and have been in martial arts since before I was born and they don't think of themselves as masters, and some people think just having a black belt means you're a master. I honestly can't imagine ever considering myself a master even after I have black belts in every style of martial arts I'm interested in. There's just so much to know! So much to learn that I'll never learn in my lifetime. I would think I can't call myself or anyone else a master until I or they have mastered martial arts. Not a martial art. Cpvc pipe taps for washer with shutoff valves?

I'm running cpvc hot and cold water lines to my downstairs garage to install a new washing machine. I have ran lines on copper water systems before and just put a threaded 90 on the end and attached a water faucet to it, apparently you can't do that with cpvc. What am I supposed to use? A 90 to send the pipe out the wall a shutoff valve and then a threaded adapter to screw the water supply lines for the washing machine to? Or is there something else I can use? Thanks.

92 Nissan Maxima windshield fluid hose and nozzle problems?

I have a 92 nissan maxima and one of my hoses for the wind shield fluid is not hooked up and I cant find where it goes, its the hose that shoots the fluid out but since its not hooked up it the fluid just goes where ever the hose is laying under the hood I looked all over to find where it hooks up to but I cant find the nozzles either as they don't sit on the hood like most cars. Can someone please help me I live in a state that gets snow and we already had some today making it hard to see out my window when the cars in front of me are throwing slush and salt on my window from their tires.

My puppy is acting really bizarre. It really has me worried.?

We just got a 4 month old Border Collie/Aussie Sheppard. She's not acting anything like we expected. Because of the breed we were expecting a hyper dog that we were going to have our hands full with but she is acting bizarre. She drooled excessively in the car ride on the way home, and she didn't investigate the house at all. She just laid on the floor and didn't move. She refuses to go outside, and she also won't walk. To get her outside, I have to pick her up and carry her out and even then she just sits on the ground outside and doesn't move. She's eating and drinking (although not a lot) and she is having bowel movements. She also will not walk on the leash. I have tried coaxing her, and I have also tried umbilical. She simply lays down and will not move. She will actually go as far as making me drag her until she starts to choke. I'm worried she is depressed or there is something seriously wrong. She is not acting like her breed at all. Any ideas?

I have swimmers ear, help!?

So i have had it since Tuesday I was using eardrops then the pain was unmanageable so I went to the docter and he gave me a new perscription yesterday and i only had the chance to put them in once cause I didn't get home until 4 ( he said 4x a day 5 days 3 drops per ear) and now I have a party today at 4, and right now the pain is making cry and I just took an ibprophan which makes the pain less painful. I completely agree with you but I still don't think prison is a deterrent to crime. Even before prisons were so "cushy" there were still criminals. And I've seen some higher security prisons on that show "Lockdown" that weren't so "cushy" and there's still plenty of criminals to fill those places. I can see energy moving around my room...?

I'm not sure what to think of it. I can see energy all the time, but it's like it gets more 'excited' and almost forms shapes or looks like something is moving, but I can't quite see it. Like it's invisible, and I can't see it, but I can see it moving. I also feel random cold spots and touched from time to time. I've always seen rather frightening things at night since I was young, but since I have been reading about the Pleiadians, affirming myself by filling my being with light and feelings of love, the frightening things have left me alone. There was a few weeks back were something major (a shadow figure) was standing outside my apartment, and I was laying down, but when I closed my eyes, I could see it up on the balcony, and I was shocked twice (literally) during this cirstance. As far as i know, lux is the unit used to measure illuminance and lumen is used to describe how much light is contained in a certain area after its been reflected. Let me know if am wrong... but if this is right then why do people request say that bulbs should display lumen instead of watts. Actionable evidence would include: doented continual loss of service, call logs and transcripts of calls made to service line, 24 hour + loss of service with no compensation. The way I've interpreted the deal is when I pay for a month of service and then don't receive what I paid for, couldn't that be seen as a breach of contract? I see that potential issues could arise with the fact that it is a prepaid deal but I'm interested to see what kind of litigation, if any, that I could pursue. Any help in this regard would be most appreciated. If anyone has any other areas of the law that I could potentially pursue, that would be most appreciated as well. This has been a huge head throb. Is the benefit erase paste concealer any good?

I really like erase paste, but you have to use a small amount, and it can be a little too orange-y for some skin tones. It's very thick so you have to work quickly with it and gently pat it on. My friends like Benefit's "Lyin Eyes" because it's not as "pastey", but Erase Paste provides heavier coverage. I would suggest using a silicone primer like bare escentuals "prime time" instead of a heavy moisturizing agent like eye cream, and let it soak in for at least five minutes. Good luck!

So I recently found out that if you send your SAT scores to one UC then they will be sent or dispersed to all the UC schools. However, I have already sent two of my scores to Irvine, Davis, and Merced. Does this mean that all the UCs have my scores? You can use acrylics on top of or with watercolor paints because they are both water based. Acrylic put on top of watercolor would not hurt the watercolor, and could work nicely for putting in areas of bold or deep color when the watercolors have dried. Depending on the thickness of the acrylic paint (how much water you put into it or not), it could cover the watercolor work completely.... but perhaps you want that effect? I would suggest that you do experiments with how much water to put into acrylic paint if you want to make acrylic color washes over watercolor washes.

So I have this friend and he posted guitar hero 3 videos people didn't like and they were rude to him. Actually Brett Favre will be better in fantasy then Big Ben. Ben is so overrated in fantasy. With that said he might be your best QB. Vick won't play enough to even be worth anything. He wasn't that good in fantasy when he was the starter. Flacco and Ryan will be average at best. In my mind I would do something with Vick or Flacco and keep the other 2. You really don't have anyone at QB which anyone would want to trade for.

I was diagnosed with a heart murmur when I was 12 (getting a physical for basketball). Heart murmurs are common and often impose no limitations (I played basketball through my senior year). It's good to know about the murmur as it can allow you to get checked out further to insure there are no severe problems. I was never woozy or dizzy so he may have something else not related to the murmur.

Ight, so I know I posted this earlier but I forgot to add a very important fact. So here is how it went down. I have been friends with this girl for awhile now. We are best friends, she is like a sister to me and I'm like a brother to her. We told each other this. She told me she is sorry for putting me through a lot of stress because I at one time had feelings for her but she didn't feel the same. She said that she has never been this close to anyone before(she doesn't have many friends) and that she was afraid in the past.
