Do you still think prison is a deterrent?

I completely agree with you but I still don't think prison is a deterrent to crime. Even before prisons were so "cushy" there were still criminals. And I've seen some higher security prisons on that show "Lockdown" that weren't so "cushy" and there's still plenty of criminals to fill those places. I think if someone wants to commit a crime they aren't really caring about the consequences or they think they won't get caught.
