Retin-A usage for acne?

Hi, I have very mild acne, mostly just a few whiteheads on my cheek bones. My derm. prescribed me a retin a 0.1% cream for night use. I have been on it for about one and a half weeks now. And my face was extremely dry and flakey initially, but just starting yesterday...after i apply it on at night..it's not dry at all..still a bit red..but no irritating feelings like the first week. I was wondering what exactly is going on now? Is it losing effect or is it going into a different process now?
